WID-SEC-2026-3611 · first 29.09.2026 · updated 29.09.2026 · CVSS 4,4
What it is about
Git ist eine freie Software zur verteilten Versionsverwaltung von Dateien. Ein lokaler Angreifer kann mehrere Schwachstellen in git ausnutzen, um Dateien zu manipulieren und Denial-of-Service-Zustände zu verursachen.
Under what conditions?
Only with access to the device or an account on it. Often the second step after a phishing email.
What can happen in the worst case
An attacker could use the vulnerability to
- Dateien zu manipulieren
- Denial-of-Service-Zustände zu verursachen
Am I affected?
Affected according to the BSI:
- Open Source git <v2.55.0.windows.3
- Open Source git >=v2.43.0.windows.1
The installed version is usually shown under “Help → About” or in the device’s admin interface.
What helps?
Update to at least:
- Open Source git v2.55.0.windows.3
- Open Source git >=v2.43.0.windows.1
Is the vulnerability already being exploited?
None of the CVEs is in the CISA catalogue of exploited vulnerabilities. That does not mean there are no attacks, only that none are documented.
