What it is about

Under what conditions?

Over the network and without logging in. This is the most dangerous combination: attackers can scan reachable devices automatically.

What can happen in the worst case

An attacker could use the vulnerability to

Am I affected?

Affected according to the BSI:

  • IBM AIX 7.3
  • IBM VIOS 4.1
  • Dell NetWorker
  • Debian Linux
  • Amazon Linux 2
  • IBM AIX 7.2
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  • Fedora Linux
  • Ubuntu Linux
  • SUSE Linux
  • Oracle Linux
  • SUSE openSUSE

and 8 more

The installed version is usually shown under “Help → About” or in the device’s admin interface.

What helps?

Update to at least:

  • Internet Systems Consortium BIND 9.18.47
  • Internet Systems Consortium BIND 9.20.21
  • Internet Systems Consortium BIND 9.21.20
  • Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4.19.36

Is the vulnerability already being exploited?

None of the CVEs is in the CISA catalogue of exploited vulnerabilities. That does not mean there are no attacks, only that none are documented.
